Join us for the installing a beautiful native rain garden planting at the newly created pickleball court at PARC! The court is located next to the Miracle League baseball field on Theodore St. Parking available along Theodore St, or at the nearby PARC parking lot off Adams St, or the Plymouth Cultural Center. Please park at one of the lots if there is a baseball game going on to leave spots for the athletes and their fans near the baseball diamond.

This garden is being created with the partnership of Friends of the Rouge, Plymouth Pollinators, and the Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex. The rain garden is designed to capture stormwater runoff from the court and manage it with deep-rooted native plants that also provide valuable habitat for critical pollinators.

Site Coordinator: Erica Zador, Friends of the Rouge

Project description: You can join us for a fun day installing a brand new rain garden this summer – and make a difference for a cleaner Rouge River! The garden is already dug out, but may be holding water, so wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or muddy.

Activity: To create the beautiful garden, we may be:

  • planting native plant plugs and larger potted plants
  • hauling and spreading compost and mulch
  • removing trash
  • doing other tasks, as needed

Volunteer day location:  Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex (PARC) – – 650 Church St #209, Plymouth, MI 48170

Registered volunteers will be emailed specific meeting/parking instructions a few days prior to their scheduled workday.

Accessibility & Difficulty: Activities will involve light to medium effort, standing, walking, bending, and lifting 5-30 pounds on even ground and uneven ground. Restrooms available at the nearby PARC building, Plymouth Cultural Center, and nearby porta-potty.
