Project description: Thank you for your interest in working for a better Rouge River by sprucing up the PARC gardens this spring!
After almost three years in the ground, the PARC rain gardens are growing beautifully. These 25 gardens play such an important role by storing up to 200,000 gallons of stormwater for each rain, helping to filter stormwater run-off and decrease the risk of flooding in the lower areas of our watershed. These native rain gardens also beautify our area and support the biodiversity of our ecosystem by providing shelter to pollinators.
To maintain these gardens at this time of year, we will be pulling out weeds and doing other tasks to give our native plants what they need to grow and spread. By giving them this TLC, you’ll be beautifying these rain gardens while they continue to collect stormwater and provide habitat for birds, bees, and butterflies.
Workday location: Plymouth Arts & Recreation Complex (PARC) – – 650 Church St #209, Plymouth, MI 48170
Registered volunteers will be emailed the specific meeting/parking instructions a few days prior to their scheduled workday.
