As the very first Orin and Charlette Gelderloos Environmental Leadership Intern, Kathryn is excited to get started with Friends of the Rouge and set a standard for possible future interns in this position. In this unique role, she will be working with all of the programs under Friends of the Rouge, from administration to education to the trails that the Rouge River has to offer. This aims to not only provide vital experience for a future career in the environmental science field, but also provide an in-depth look at what it takes to maintain a non-profit organization.

Currently a junior at University of Michigan-Dearborn, she is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science with a concentration in Ecosystem Sciences and the Geospatial Analysis and Mapping certificate. Her love of being in the field and continually learning informs her academic career, which has led her to all parts of the world in field methods classes.

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys exploring local parks with her friends, cafe hopping, and watching and reviewing films.
