Susan joined Friends of the Rouge in 2024 as a Restoration Field Coordinator. She is very excited to work with her community to increase green spaces and share the benefits that native plants and rain gardens can have for people, critters, and the river.

Susan grew up in Southeast Michigan and holds a Bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in Conservation and Resource Use, as well as a Master’s in Ecology from Eastern Michigan University. During her undergraduate degree, she volunteered with the Huron River Watershed Council for several years, working on projects such as invasive species monitoring, stream bank erosion surveys, and water quality sampling. After finishing school, Susan worked for the Clinton River Watershed Council educating community members about green infrastructure projects such as rain gardens and rain barrels so they could make informed decisions on what they wanted for their homes.

In her free time, Susan enjoys wandering through the woods, reading a good book, and spending time with her friends.
