Join your Friends on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00pm at the Penn Theater for a screening of the documentary River. Narrated by Willem Dafoe and set to a sweeping score, River takes viewers on a journey across continents and centuries, revealing rivers as both majestic forces of nature and fragile lifelines shaped by human hands. Narrated by Oscar Nominee Willem Dafoe. With music by the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Radiohead.
Following the film, we will explore the timeless relationship between human civilization and Earth’s rivers through a discussion and Q&A with panelists:
- Myra M. Tetteh, Ph.D., Friends of the Rouge Board President and public health policy professional at Wayne County Department of Health, Human & Veterans Services
- Elena Past, Wayne State professor of Italian. Her research and teaching focus on contemporary Italian literature and cinema, ecomedia studies and the environmental humanities, posthumanism and animal studies, Italian crime fiction, and ecomafia.
- Antonio Cosme, the Land Stewardship Manager at Rouge Park is a Coahuiltecan and Boricua agroecologist, artist, educator, and organizer from Southwest, Detroit.
