Mayor-Marsee in his canoe for National Canoe Day

Thanks to all of you who made the 2021 Friends of the Rouge National Canoe Day on July 21 a success! We had a great turnout for the morning paddle and a few folks tried a kayak or a canoe for the first time, including Melvindale City Councilman Joe Jackson and his son. Mayor Wheeler Marsee was happy to host the event in the City of Melvindale at John Kessey Fieldhouse. “Since the COVID 19 pandemic began, it’s been quiet around the Fieldhouse. It is exciting today to see people out here having a good time in our great City.” said Mayor Marsee, “The work we do with Friends of the Rouge aims to create more access to opportunities like this in Melvindale.”

Here are a few photos to enjoy.
