The area between the Rouge plant and Zug Island is ground zero of this historic fire, symbolizing the peak of societal indifference to pollution. Today we celebrate all the work that has been done to clean up the Rouge River and rivers across the nation.

Join us for this celebration of the renewal of the Rouge River and a look to the next 50 years.

This exclusive event features a silent auction; strolling hors d’oeuvres; open bar (with special edition brew from Downey Brewing Co.) and all Michigan-craft beer/wine; live entertainment by Straight Ahead, the all-female jazz group; short boat tours of the river by Marine Pollution Control (the first spill cleanup company in the Great Lakes region); visit from Detroit Fire Boat ENGINE 16 “Curtis Randolph;” and remarks by distinguished guests including keynote speaker Martin Doyle, author of “The Source: How Rivers Made America and America Remade its Rivers.”
