Renato Marimon has been working at FOTR as a Restoration Assistant since spring 2021, and he is currently assisting with rain garden plantings.
Renato is from Lima, Peru, where he studied Agronomy Engineering at Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM). After finishing school, he worked in the agriculture industry for a couple of years, then in the landscaping industry and urban farming for several years.
In 2015, Renato moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he gained more experience in the landscaping industry and learned more about natural areas management. He worked as a Groundskeeper at the University of Michigan and as a Stewardship Technician for the Washtenaw County Natural Areas Preservation Program (NAPP).
Renato is a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and Landscape Manager Certified Green Industry Professional (CGIP) from the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA). He is currently studying a Master of Science program in Environmental Science at the University of Michigan Dearborn. His main interest in the MS program is the application of data analysis technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to evaluate environmental issues and help to find sustainable solutions to reduce the impact caused by development.
When Renato is not working or studying, he is biking, running; or enjoying nature, hiking, and camping with his wife. For him, nothing is more relaxing than reading a good book in the woods, listening to the sounds of nature; or relaxing on the beach. He also spends time in the kitchen cooking delicious meals.
