Sara joined Friends of the Rouge in 2023 as the Restoration Landscape Architect. In this role, she leads the design team in initiatives that knit ecological restoration with community-based design. Her work as a Restoration Landscape Architect has a strong focus on green stormwater infrastructure, ecological design, native plants, graphic representation and technical implementation, and she is looking forward to growing the design services offered by FoTR.

Prior to joining FoTR, Sara was a site designer at a landscape architecture firm where she worked on a variety of landscape projects throughout Michigan. She has extensive experience working in multidisciplinary teams with diverse stakeholders and has worked across scales from residential planting design to regional landscape planning. She is passionate about creating invigorating outdoor spaces that support community needs and address environmental injustices through ecological design.

Sara holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Science in Conservation Ecology, both from the University of Michigan. She has a Bachelor of Arts, also from the University of Michigan.
