Ty is a Trails Assistant at Friends of the Rouge. As a native Michigander, and an adopted Detroiter, Ty is thrilled to have the opportunity to further pursue his passion for paddlesports while working to protect the freshwater ecosystems that make our region so special.

Ty is an alumni of Central Michigan University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Recreation, coupled with a minor in Political Science. Ty has worked on numerous State and Political campaigns over the years, however most of his passion has been aimed at conservation of the Great Lakes Basin.

Ty brings nearly a decade of paddling experience to the Friends of the Rouge team, which has including leading youth kayak and canoe courses, sea kayak tours on the Straits of Mackinac, and guiding on the Detroit River.

Formerly from the Lansing area, Ty is now proud to call the City of Detroit home.
