Description

Join Friends of the Rouge to install a rain garden at Salina Elementary in Dearborn, MI! Rain gardens are designed to collect, absorb, and filter rainwater run-off. Planted with deep-rooted native Michigan plants, they reduce the amount of polluted rainwater that would rush down the storm drain and cause erosion and flooding in the Rouge River. The Michigan native plants used in these gardens will also add colorful blooms and create food and habitat for native wildlife.

No gardening experience necessary! We provide all the instructions, tools, materials, and gloves. Snacks and water will also be provided, but please bring a reusable water bottle. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. Wear clothes appropriate for outdoor work based on the weather conditions.

Please sign up for the event at the link below.
