FOTR Welcomed Presentation by Scientist and her Granddaughters
Long time volunteer, Jill Slater Ph.D., and her two granddaughters presented the results of their water quality monitoring to staff on July 24th. Jill wanted to acquaint her young granddaughters with the scientific method, and this summer they monitored water quality, including E.coli, at three different locations in Northville. They determined the 30-day geometric mean for E. coli per EGLE standards, and sampling included pre and post oil spill at the Northville Downs. High levels were detected post oil spill, and they are interested in learning more about associations between bacteria and oil levels in rivers. Thank you to Jill and her granddaughters for sharing their time and knowledge with us!
