The future is so bright! Check out these next generation leaders as they discover life in the Rouge River! Friends of the Rouge partnered with Trout Unlimited and Great Futures Summer Camp for the STREAM Keepers program—a day of Rouge River science and fly-fishing related activities at Goudy Park in Wayne.
Are you ready for Fall? It’s back to school for River science teachers! Rouge Education Project teachers explored water chemistry, “bug” monitoring, and physical stream surveys with Friends of the Rouge staff this week. These awesome teachers will bring their training back to students across your Rouge River community to support young leaners with project, place, and research-based work. Then, students will look for ways to take local action based on their Rouge River findings!
Thank you to the wonderful bug enthusiasts – young and old – who joined Friends at the “Buggin’ Out” event with Detroit Audubon at the Detroit Wildlife Refuge. Participants enjoyed naturalist-led trails walks as they searched for wildlife. Friends of the Rouge volunteers and staff shared live Rouge River bugs and the role they play in the ecosystem and River health.
