Project description: Thank you for your interest in a healthier Rouge River by sprucing up the Hulsing rain garden this fall!
After four years in the ground, the Hulsing elementary rain garden is growing beautifully.
To maintain this garden, we will be pulling out weeds, planting more native flowers and sedges, and mulching to give this garden just what it needs!
Rain gardens are hard-working gardens! This rain garden collects rainwater from the basketball court, filtering the water and reducing flooding in our Rouge River watershed. This native garden also beautifies the school campus and provides wonderful habitat for songbirds, butterflies, pollinators, and other beneficial wildlife.
Workday location: Hulsing Elementary School – 8055 Fleet St., Canton, MI
Registered volunteers will be emailed specific meeting/parking instructions.
