“Dry Dock” Pop-ups! Bringing the River Experience to Shore!
Friends of the Rouge and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan have joined forces again to bring a river experience to an event near you! The Dry Dock Pop-ups are designed to meet people where they are, and will feature a real canoe, information about paddling essentials and safety tips, crafts for kids, a terrain model of the Rouge Watershed, trails projects plans, and information on the progress to establish a 29-mile water trail and network of connected greenways on the Lower Branch of the Rouge River.
The Friends of the Rouge Dry Dock Pop Up, has become a key component to building community partnerships and nurturing the vision of a destination water trail on the Rouge that creates equitable access to the river for recreation and enjoyment for all communities along the river.
Over the past three years, the Friends of the Rouge Dry Dock Pop Up experience has been featured at over 60 community events! Friends of the Rouge brings the Dry Dock Pop Up to farmers markets, neighborhood events, festivals, schools, wherever it makes sense to spread the good news about the community and health benefits of water trails, greenway trails, and outdoor recreation. The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan is a key partner in this work, sharing valuable resources and information on nutrition and making healthy choices.
