Event FULLRegister here to have fun planting trees to reforest your Rouge River
Site Coordinator: Renato Marimón, Restoration Assistant, Friends of the Rouge
Project description: Come be part of a huge reforestation project by joining teams over two weeks to plant upwards of 13,400 native tree saplings in the Lower Rouge River floodplain in 75 acres of forested and open land areas. In the midterm, this initiative will restore and improve the health of the Rouge River Watershed for a flood resilient and clean water future in Southeast Michigan. The project will also help to bring back native habitat to support birds, bees, pollinators, and other wildlife. Early spring is the best time of the year to plant tree saplings, and what a better way to start your spring season by reforesting your Rouge River.
Workday location: In Inkster Park (near play ground area) along the side of Lower Rouge Parkway Dr (west of John Daly St.). Parking will be alongside of Lower Rouge Parkway Dr. Look for Friends of the Rouge signage for meeting spot. (NOTE: All worksites will be between John Daly St and Merriman Rd along the Lower Rouge River. Specific meeting locations may change, and volunteers will be notified by email.)
