Come and learn “hands-on” about rain gardens by helping dig and plant a residential rain garden! Detroit homeowners are installing these gardens to help manage stormwater on their property by keeping hundreds of gallons of rainwater out of the combined sewer system in the city every time it rains which helps keep our Rouge and Detroit Rivers cleaner while providing valuable pollinator habitat with attractive native plants.
Note: No experience needed. Friends of the Rouge will provide all necessary tools and supplies.
Site Coordinator: Jaclyn Heikklia, Restoration Assistant, Friends of the Rouge
Workday location: The event is located in the general area of W Forest and Trumbull. The specific, residential address will be provided to registered volunteers prior to the date of the event.
