Most urban gardens look best with fewer species planted en masse. The three flat combo is an affordable way for you to mix-and-match three species to cover a planting area of around 200 square feet. See below for suggested combinations!

Generally, we recommend 1 grass species mixed with 2 perennial species, with non-overlapping bloom periods to extend your seasonal interest. You might also consider interplanting the garden with spring ephemerals, whether native (bloodroot, trillium, etc) or introduced (tulips, daffodils, etc) to extend the seasonal interest.
